The Lok Ayukta special court on Wednesday ordered the Lok Ayukta police to conduct an investigation against Congress leader DK Shivakumar, who is accused of illegally denotifying government land for personal benefits.

Businessman TJ Abraham filed a complaint against Shivakumar on Monday.

Abraham alleged that Shivakumar, in association with the then Bangalore Urban deputy commissioner Ramegowda, had illegally denotified four acres and 20 guntas near Indiranagar. On December 18, 2003, Shivakumar bought land from BK Srinivasan, 90.

On February 17, 2004, Shivakumar got the land converted in his name, with help from Ramegowda. Meanwhile, Srinivasan passed away in 2007.

In his complaint, Abraham alleged that in 2010, during the tenure of BS Yeddyurappa as chief minister, Shivakumar had approached him with an application for denotification in the name of Srinivasan, thereby ‘impersonating a dead man as a living person’.

Yeddyurappa, who was not aware that Srinivasan was dead, gave orders to denotify the land, which was notified by the BDA for formation of NGEF residential Layout in 1986.

Lok Ayukta special court Judge NK Sudhindra Rao directed the police to submit the report on April 17 and adjourned the case to March 7.
