The sprawling campus of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is abuzz with activities as it prepares to bid goodbye to its outgoing students.

The B-school is all geared up to host 36th annual convocation ceremony on March 31. Union minister for human resource development Kapil Sibal will be the chief guest at the event.

The feeling among the outgoing batches can best be described as mixed. On the one hand, they are looking forward to getting their degree from the best B-school in the country, but on the other hand, there is sadness in the air as they prepare to step out of the threshold of the institute.

"I am looking forward to the occasion. However, I will miss the institute where I spent some of the finest moments of my life. It was a great learning experience," said Om Prakash H, a final-year post-graduate programme in management (PGP) student.

"We have just finished our exams and are hoping for a good result," added Om, who is all set to join Infosys Consulting Services in Bangalore after getting his degree.

Students also have plans to throw parties among their own friend circle before they part ways. "We don't know when we will meet again. Soon, all of us will get busy in our lives and work. So we are making the best of this time," said Gandharv Bakshi, another student.

Even the faculty and staff members are busy giving finishing touches to the nitty-gritties involved in hosting the big event. "About 500 students enrolled in various courses. A few students will also get their doctoral degrees," said an official of IIMB.
