It was a honey-trap laid for 21-year-old first year BE student from Sri Krishna Institute of Technology Tushar Mehta to kidnap him for ransom, out of which he never came out alive.

Tushar, from Patna, was killed on January 14, four days after he fell for the lure of a young woman, Shivani Kumar. She had allegedly called him first on January 10 to inform him that she got his number from the social networking site and wanted to be friends with him and ‘have fun’.

But his body was found dumped and in a decomposed condition in a eucalyptus grove in Kempanahalli near Attur Layout in Yelahanka New Town.
Tushar failed to suspect that it was a plan to lure him into a trap to kidnap him to press for ransom of `15 lakh from his father, Pramod Mehta, a wealthy businessman in Patna, the police said.

Shivani, who reportedly worked as a bartender in Bangalore, was the wife of a real estate businessman, Rohith Kumar, 24, a friend of Tushar’s own friend Waris, 21, a resident of Abhiyanthnagar in Patna. All these three along with Shivani’s sister, Preethi alias Apoorva, 19, allegedly hit upon a plan to kidnap Tushar for ransom.
Tushar met up with Shivani and Preethi for a drink, subsequently joined by Waris and Rohith. They forced him to call his father and inform him that he was kidnapped and a ransom amount of `15 lakh be paid. But Tushar refused to do so.
The police said Waris and Rohith then allegedly hit Tushar on the head with a bottle and then strangled him to death. They dumped his body in the eucalyptus grove in New Yelahanka Town on January 15. It was found only on January 20 when Tushar’s father arrived in Bangalore and filed a missing complaint. All four accused have been taken into custody.
