BANGALORE: It was power filled drama on Sunday morning, when accused realtor cum Kannada film producer Goverdhan Murthy was produced before the Bangalore Commissioner of Police. Family members of the deceased film actor Vinod Kumar (32) were gathered to get a glimpse of the man who shot him.

The police officials did fear that the family members would hound Murthy and hesitated to bring Murthy out of the Tata Sumo car guarded by five policemen.

Vinod's mother B Gowramma and father B Narayanappa and eight other women along with 25 men were shouting slogans at Murthy. The only fear was that Murthy might be allowed to let go and the family shouted, ``do not let him go''.

A relative of Vinod said, ``this should not happen to anybody else. They (Murthy and his brothers) do not care about anybody's life. Murthy brother said that it is just one man who has been killed''.

As Murthy was brought out of the car, people tried to pounce on him shouting slogans that the police must take appropriate action against him, who has committed a mindless murder in an inebriated state. Some of the friends of the victim Vinod, threatened Murthy with dire consequences. This entire time police did nothing than to being mere spectators.

Murthy, who looked blank, was being shoved around, as the crowd was trying to get onto him. Eye-witness to the shoot out and realtor Shankar Reddy was standing in a corner watching the drama.

``On Saturday night, Reddy along with 20 goons had visited the Bagalur police station, waiting for Murthy to be produced,'' said a police official.

The family which went on a rampage even as the Commissioner of Police Shankar M Bidari was trying to get out of his office. The family shouted, ``Cheers to the police department. Cheers to Bidari''. The family was even spotted pleading to Bidari that Murthy should not be spared. He assured them tough action saying that, ``I am not the judiciary''.

This was the moment what the others were waiting for. They immediately started shouting slogans that 'Shankar Bidari zindabad'. Bidari looked jubilant and then started off for his journey.

The incident raised questions on how did the police allow so many people inside the most guarded office in the city, especially when the top cop along with other police officials were present there.
