Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda’s confrontation against chief minister BS Yeddyurappa over the alleged discrimination against development works in Hassan district blew over on Friday with the latter agreeing to immediately act on the charter of 12 demands presented by the former.

The Gowda-Yeddyurappa meeting at chief minister’s home office ‘Krishna’ on Friday evening evoked state-wide interest and turned out to be a feast for the lensmen as they vied against one another to capture the moments when the chief minister, accompanied by transport minister R Ashoka, received Gowda and his son HD Revanna by presenting bouquets as the father-son duo alighted from their cars.

The issues were sorted out within half-an hour in the presence of several ministers and senior officials with the chief minister agreeing to speed up developmental works in the district, which is the political turf of Gowda.

The former minister had also demanded that the government return the land acquired for the setting up of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Hassan as the Union government had not approved the proposal.
