TV anchor-turned-actress Malavika had a baptism by fire on the first day of her political career. The first question she fielded after joining politics was about the attack on journalists by advocates. Journalists quizzed her on her opinion about the issue as she is also an LLB graduate. Malavika said: “I think spokesperson of my party will be the suitable person to answer the question.”

Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda came to her rescue by condemning the incident. He termed the incident as unfortunate and urged the government to take action against the culprits.

“The chief minister should give serious thought to the incident and give it priority over by-election and budget preparations. Discussions should be held with members of bar association and senior advocates to solve the issue. Nobody is above law and this is definitely a disturbing development,” added Gowda.
