Karnataka government’s department of IT, BT and S&T in association with Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation (KEONICS) is organising a two-day ‘Cyber Security Summit’ to emphasise the importance of cyber security and list best practices among IT companies, KEONICS managing director Hari Kumar Jha said.
Being the IT capital of the country, Bangalore has more data on how disruptive techniques are posing huge risks for cloud computing, A Saliya, chief organiser of the summit, said.
Social and mobile networking—which are both a boon and a bane to the society—will be the key focus of the summit, he said.
The growth of information highway has enabled humans to manage administrative and business activities remotely.
This has led to good governance, transparency and overall development of the country. But this has to be supplemented by safe and secured cyber space, Jha said.
Any disruption in the operation of information system of critical infrastructure is likely to have a devastating effect on people, economy and national security and the summit will focus on these key aspects, he added.
The summit, which starts from May 3, will be held at the convention centre at Nimhans.
