Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda is beaming since he returned from New Delhi after meeting party bosses. Inputs from his aides and those of BJP state president KS Eshwarappa in Mangalore and Shimoga indicate that the high command has allayed his apprehensions about the threat posed by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.

Reportedly, the party high command has asked Gowda and Eshwarappa to go ahead with the party’s programmes without fear or favour. The duo have been assured by the leadership that they have control over the party cadre in the state. Yeddyurappa, with his small support base, cannot destabilise the government.
Party president Nitin Gadkari, Karnataka in-charge secretary Dharmendra Pradhan, party general secretaries Ananth Kumar and Arun Jaitley, and party patriarch LK Advani have taken a strong stand on the BJP’s affairs in the state.

They have allayed fears that Yeddyurappa is capable of tearing apart the party if not given the importance he desires.
Further, all the 17 BJP MPs from Karnataka have been briefed to keep the Sadananda Gowda government intact.

Sadananda Gowda’s political mentor, Urimajalu Ram Bhat, told DNA that Yeddyurappa needed to mend his ways in dealing with party affairs. “He is surrounded with people who were motivated by caste considerations. They were diluting the cause of BJP of achieving equity among the supporters and voters in Karnataka.
Yeddyurappa was also showing his political strength with the help of a few faceless and imageless MLAs,” he said.

Bhat added that the cadre in the RSS and the BJP believe that if Yeddyurappa wants to improve his image in the party, he should distance himself from MLAs like Renukacharya, Haratal Halappa, Beluru Gopalakrishna, Sampangi, Suresh Babu and Nagendra.
Bhat added that Yeddyurappa should keep distance from those who led the rebellion against party whip in the recent Bellary by-elections.

“In the case of Sriramulu, with whom Yedddyurappa has been hobnobbing even after he rebelled against the party, it is unpardonable.”
