As work progresses to get Namma Metro up and running by April 4, Ugadi day, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) also gears up to educate riders. Many Bangaloreans may never have taken a ride in a metro before, and the BMRCL is keen to equip all potential riders with relevant information, to ensure a comfortable ride that does not leave one daunted with all the new technology.

Beginning this week, BMRCL will publish maps of all the six stations on Reach 1. Commuters can read the maps for information about the points of entrance and exit, and the different operational areas. On Friday, the corporation had published maps of the Trinity Circle Station.

BMRCL managing director N Sivasailam had announced, when the signature tune of Namma Metro was released on Thursday, that maps of all six stations would be available this week. “Our website will carry maps of all the stations on Reach 1. That way, people can know what to expect, and where to look for the different facilities provided within the stations, even before they actually arrive at a metro station,” said Sivasailam.

The ticket counters, operational control centres and automatic fare collecting (FC) gates are all located on the concourse level. Flooring work, which is still under progress, will have a tactile quality, and even the visually challenged can follow certain signs to different parts of the station.

There will be lifts provided at the station exclusively for elderly, women, or physically challenged passengers. Other passengers will be encouraged to use the staircases and elevators.
Namma Metro has been working round-the-clock in a bid to finish all the work that remains before the Ugadi launch.
