A city-based advocate has given a new twist to the plight of former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa. He has alleged that BJP patriarch LK Advani, governor HR Bhardwaj, former Lok Ayukta Justice Santosh Hegde and home minister R Ashoka had conspired to oust Yeddyurappa.

HR Vishwanath filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the high court on Tuesday. He alleged that Advani, Bhardwaj and Justice Hegde colluded with Sirajin Basha, the advocate who filed criminal cases against Yeddyurappa.

Vishwanath contended that the governor accorded sanction for prosecution of the former chief minister with a prejudiced mind and without conducting an inquiry or looking into the documents about denotification of land.

He has noted that the governor had once made a statement that he was a loyal Congressman and this clouded his decision while granting Yeddyurappa’s prosecution.

Furthermore, Vishwanath has alleged that the Lok Ayukta court is encouraging the complaint of Basha without questioning his integrity, conduct and origin.

Look who’s talking
The advocate has alleged that JD(S) spokesperson YSV Datta, who has accused Yeddyurappa of committing irregularities in the Upper Bhadra project in a private complaint in the Lokayukta court, is himself a cheat and dishonest person.

To buttress his argument, Vishwanath said Datta was once jailed in Kolkata for cheating more than 27 students. He said Datta had promised them medical seats in Bangalore and went missing after receiving several lakhs of rupees.

Vishwanath further alleged that Datta had received `10 lakh from GK Honnaiah, lecturer at a college in Tumkur district. The JD(S) spokesperson had promised the lecturer that he would be selected as KAS officer in the KPS examination, which did not happen.

The advocate accused even the governor of favouritism. He alleged that Bhardwaj had recommended the name of KPS officer Mane for promotion to the IPS cadre.

Vishwanath appealed to the high court to set up an inquiry committee to probe into the alleged conspiracy of Ashoka and others in ousting Yeddyurappa. He demanded that the Lokayukta court stop further proceedings against the ex-chief minister.

The PIL is likely to come up for hearing at the high court soon.
