Ramya will contest by-poll, says CM

Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday confirmed that actor-turned-politician Ramya would contest in the by-poll to Mandya legislative assembly, despite the sudden demise of her guardian.

Filing her nomination papers from the Congress party, Ramya declared of having movable property worth Rs 15.92 lakh and immovable property worth Rs 2 crore. She also declared that she has a outstanding loan of Rs 52.23 lakh from a financial institution.

In her affidavit, Ramya declared that her annual income is Rs61.41 lakh. She also possesses property including a 2,100 sq ft residential building in Shantinagar purchased in 2010-2011 for Rs1.72 crore, now worth Rs2 crore.

Meanwhile, the chief minister declined to comment on the possibility of senior party member DK Shivakumar being considered for a ministerial berth.

Shivakumar has been kept out of the ministry reportedly over allegations of illegal mining against him.
