Kannada cine actress Pooja Gandhi is in the news second time in a week for wrong reasons after her engagement with businessman Anand Gowda was called off. Now, she has been accused of making repeated threat calls and sending threat text messages to a doctor working as a professor at a city-based dental college.

Dr TV Kiran couriered the copy of the complaint to the Subramanyapura police station on Thursday. His advocate RLN Murthy said they already sent a complaint in courier against the actress.

Kiran is a resident of Bharath Housing Co-operative Layout in Subramanyapura. The medico in his complaint stated that he got threat calls from the actress and her father Pavan Kumar at 4.15 pm and 7.41 pm on Wednesday. It may be recalled that Pooja’s engagement with businessmen Anand Gowda, a resident of Jayanagar 5th Block, was called off on Wednesday. The doctor stated that Pooja threatened him by making calls and sending text messages from two mobile phones with numbers starting with 88848…, 99649… and her father with a mobile phone with number starting from 93790… Kiran stated that the actress has been known to him for seven years. In 2009, the doctor had differences with the actress and her father over a financial transaction which spoiled his friendship with the actress. A false case has been registered against him by the actress. The case is pending before the court, he said.

The complainant stated that he received a threat text message from the actress stating: “By mistake also don’t tell anyone or will kill you”.

Both the actress and her father threatened him of getting him killed by ‘supari’ killers. He also accused the actress of threatening him of even getting his entire family killed. The complainant stated that the actress and her father will be responsible if anything happens to himself or his family.

However, the Subramanyapura police inspector Balegowda said they have not registered any complaint against the actress or her father Pavan Kumar. The police said they came to know about the matter after the news was aired by TV channels.

They said there is no question of registering a case against her unless they get a complaint. But they assured that they will take necessary action if they receive a complaint. Kiran’s advocate Murthy said they sent copies of the complaints to the police commissioner and cyber police station, requesting necessary action against Pooja and her father.

However, while speaking to a regional news channel, the actress denied of making any threat calls. She claimed the doctor is a psychopath. He should behave like a man and not like a woman. The doctor had been threatening her with dire consequences since 2011 and a complaint was filed with the police against him and the matter is in the court, she claimed.

She said neither she nor her father made any threat call nor sent any threat message to the doctor. The accusation made against her is baseless and false. The doctor wants to gain publicity by making false accusations, she told the TV channel.

Meanwhile, the CK Achukattu police registered a case against Kiran for threatening Pooja. The actress rushed to the CK Achukattu police station along with her father around 6 pm and filed a complaint against the doctor. She alleged that he threatened her and was spreading false information against her.

The police received her complaint and registered a case against Kiran. They said they filed a case against him under section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of Indian Penal Code.
