How often have you found it difficult to search for a carpooling partner? Well, your search has now been made easy by an app that helps you find the right person for a carpool.
Called 'Lets Drive Along', the app allows office goers to have a flexible set of carpool buddies. Basically interested commuters need to go to the web, register for free, update their profile, their route from home location to office location and then can search profiles of others residing and working in close by locations.
"Before coming up with the app, I used to carpool myself to office. However, there was no flexibility as I was dependent on the same one or two people. Also, there were many I knew who had no clue of who is going where and hence could not carpool. Hence, I decided to come up with this app wherein people can know and tie up with those going in their direction." says Srinath S, co-founder and CEO, Spanted Solutions.
"Once a person has viewed the profile of others living and working in locations close to his, he can send a request and create a group," says the IIMB alumnus, adding that to use the carpooling app, commuters need to be owners of cars.
As against traditional carpooling, where mostly friends or acquaintances carpool, with the app, even strangers can carpool with each other post registering on the site, view other similar profiles, getting in touch with those profiles and create a group.
"An office goer can come and go with anyone residing and working in localities similar to his, and whose time matches," says Srinath. Srinath started the company in July 2013 and has till date got over 1, 800 users in Bangalore. He says every month he sees about 200-300 people registering on the database.
"Companies can also optimize parking by encouraging employees to car pool. We are talking to corporates located in Whitefield, Electronic City to encourage their employees to register on the app," Says Srinath.
Each user creates secure endless list of potential car-pool mates. There is no commitment to car pool everyday. Only button clicks, no text entries, usage reports are available. No money exchange, no profit attitude, only points are exchanged
