Following in the footsteps of many foreign universities, a few international schools in the city are giving a “free trial scheme” for prospective students. This scheme gives the applicants a chance to attend classes, interact with other students and teachers, and attend counselling sessions prior to their admission to the school.

“The scheme will help students as well as their parents to make
the right choice.  Many parents want to know about the learning methods adopted by the school. The trial sessions will give them a first-hand experience of the ambience as well as the facilities in the school,” said Bhavana Bandekar, director, Treamis World School.

At the Trio World School, prospective students can spend about a week on the campus. According to the school management, this practice helps students understand the comfort level they will have in classrooms and with peers and teachers. “Today, all parents want the right school for their wards. We follow the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) curriculum. The scheme will provide them an opportunity to know more about it, and also a chance to compare it to other curricular choices before taking the final call,” said Hugh Campbell, a member of the student guidance cell, at the school.

“We came to the city from Indonesia last year. I wanted to make sure that my daughter is comfortable from day one. I visited many schools. The scheme was very helpful to understand whether the child is comfortable with the teaching style,” said Ramesh Tattanshetti, a parent. His daughter studies in the Trio World School. The students can also participate in online discussion forums organised by the school. “These online sessions will help them get acquainted with their future classmates and menders,” said Bishwajeet Bhattacharya of the school’s admission cell.
