Buoyed by efforts of a section of state leaders in the BJP to bring him back into the party fold, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Wednesday said he would consider a merger with the parent party at the time of the general elections.
Yeddyurappa claimed there are no foes in politics, when asked by reporters about senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa toeing a soft line on him. Yeddyurappa said he had so far not been approached by BJP national leaders, and said the possibility of a merger did not exist as of now. “I will build KJP and later take a call on a merger just before the parliamentary elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa’s supporters in the BJP, former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda, DB Chandre Gowda, Basavaraj Bommai, Prabhakar Kore and others have succeeded are said to have convinced party president Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley are keen to take Yedyurappa back into the party.
However, sources said that Ananthkumar is also playing his cards close to his chest so as to prevent Yeddyurappa from making a comeback. The matter will be discussed during a core committee meeting scheduled for July 12.
Yeddyurappa supporters are hopeful of a major development during the visit of senior party leader and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi to Bangalore on August 2.
