Regarding the incident where five youth were held by the police for creating ruckus at Pebble pub and later got away scot-free, home minister KJ George dismissed allegations that his son put pressure on police to let the son of a reputed builder and his friends free.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, George said that he knew Jitu Virwani, chairman and managing director of Embassy Property Developments Private Limited, for many years. “On Sunday night, he called me up and said his son was beaten up by some youth and they were at police station. I then called up the DCP of central division and asked him to take appropriate action in connection with the incident. But I never told to act in favour of anyone,” he said, adding that his son too was not involved.

He said the police should not heed anyone who drops his name to get their work done. “I have instructed the police to take action against such people. Even in connection with Pebble pub incident, I have asked the police commissioner to probe the case impartially and have also sought a report about the incident,” he said.
