The incident took place at 10th Cross near Hegganahalli in Kamakshipalya police limits. Police said Sarojamma’s family had been living in the house for eight months. There are two other houses in the compound and Ganesh was staying in one of them. Shruthi conducts tuition classes for children in the house and Ganesh would often create a scene over it, complaining about children making noise. Police said Ganesh would often pick up fights with his neighbours.
He would fight with them over fetching water from the common tap. Sarojamma had complained about him to the compound owner, who had asked Ganesh to vacate.

Police said Ganesh vacated the house by 1.30 pm on Sunday and returned at 3 pm for some work. He picked up a fight with Sarojamma and stabbed her multiple times with a dagger. Her daughter came to her rescue, but Ganesh stabbed her too and fled. Sarojamma died instantly.
Shruthi is out of danger. Male members of the family were not in the house when the incident took place.
