Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder Arvind Kejriwal launched the party’s state unit in the city on Saturday.

Speaking at the launch, Kejriwal stated that the party will change the system of politics in the country by bringing in Swaraj (self-governance), and that it will work towards creating a system where elected politicians are directly responsible to the people who vote them to power.

Kejriwal also exuded confidence that his party would win the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi with a vast majority, following which, the Lokpal Bill would be implemented within 15 days.

He also appealed to the people of Karnataka to participate in the “battle against the right and the wrong”.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal accused other political parties of fielding candidates who face charges for rape, murder, kidnapping and other crimes. If this is the case, how will such parties safeguard the interest of the nation, he questioned.

Claiming the AAP to be different from rest of the parties, Kejriwal said his party would not give tickets to those who face corruption charges and that it would do background checks on candidates before giving them tickets. He added that his party would not give tickets to two or more candidates from the same party.

After the launch of the party, Kejriwal also unveiled the abridged version of his book Swaraj translated into Kannada as Swaraj Mitra.
