Maruti Suzuki's Baleno recently crossed the milestone of 2 lakh in sales just within around 20 months since its launch in October 2015.

Apart from being one of the fastest growing products in domestic market, Baleno is also being exported to over 100 countries including New Zealand, Australia, Latin America, Japan, among others.

As per the dealers and other industry players, when the car the was launched the waiting period for it was as much as four to six months. It subsequently went down to over a couple of months after the production increased based on more demand.

Maruti Suzuki, the market leader in the country, has seen tremendous growth despite many of its rivals slowing down under the pressure of demonetization, BS-III vehicle ban and the upcoming goods and services tax regime.

According to an analyst, the company, of late, has been banking on its premium segment to capture more market share in comparison to its competitors. In recent years, most of the auto makers in the country have slowly started focusing on premium vehicles as the demand for the segment is growing.

As per the reports, Alto, another bestseller from Maruti Suzuki, which has been making strides for quite a long time and had consistently registered as the best-selling model in India, clocked sales of around 2.41 lakh units last fiscal, which is around 17% of company's total domestic sales.
