Woman arrested for stealing files from Gujarat High Court

The accused has been identified as Dolly Patel, a resident of Vadodara who was hiding in Ahmedabad

A complaint of theft was lodged with the Sola police station after 10 files went missing from the high court's registry. During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the accused in a cheating case had stolen the files from the registry.

The accused has been identified as Dolly Patel, a resident of Vadodara who was hiding in Ahmedabad. As per Sola police, in February last year, Vadodara CID crime arrested Patel in relation to a Rs 1500-crore land scam case. Patel was arrested in connection with cheating offences registered against her in the city. She was named as an accused in connection with fraud regarding 46,000 sq m of land in Waghodiya area of the city. The land was transferred to five different cooperative societies.

During the raid, cops recovered 10 files from her home which had been missing from the high court registry. Regarding the missing files, a complaint of theft was lodged with the Sola high court police station by the registrar of the high court.

Inspector P B Chauhan of Sola police station said, "The accused was arrested by Vadodara CID crime regarding land fraud case during which they recovered the files from her home. The files were returned to the high court, but regarding the matter, a complaint was lodged on Thursday and further investigation is on."
