Chief minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, criticised the UPA government at the Centre for being weak in dealing with Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. “The Union government has given evidence of its diplomatic failure one by one,” he said.

He was speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the All Gujarat Public Prosecutors’ seminar held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on Saturday.

Attacking the Manmohan Singh government, Modi said: “It would not be proper to look at the attack on Sarabjit in jail in Pakistan in isolation. One by one, incidents like the legal battle over the two marines of Italy, beheading of two Indian soldiers by Pakistan army personnel and the incursion by China, have indicated that the Indian government is not able to convey its message anywhere in the world.”

“It should put our side before the world very firmly. There seems a total blackout in putting forward our stand with firmness or showing Pakistan and other neighbours our power. The Indian government is giving proof of failure one by one," Modi said.

“The government in New Delhi is preoccupied in saving itself. It does not have the time to save citizens. This is very unfortunate,” he said.

In his speech to the gathering of public prosecutors and several judges of the Gujarat high court, the chief minister obliquely referred to the ongoing court cases against his government and said a big conspiracy had been hatched by some NGOs.

“By holding seminars, through newspapers and by conducting discussions on television, the NGOs create a hype before every hearing in court. It is all part of the conspiracy,” the CM said. He, however, added that its intensity is decreasing as there are several other sources of information available to know the facts about the litigants.
