Is the summer heat getting to you already? Brace yourself up for warmer days! The coming weekends maybe quite uncomfortable and you might even find yourself trapped in the house. Reason? The unbearable heat, as the mercury is likely tot touch around 42 to 44 degrees Celsius. The weatherman also predicts chances of a heatwave at certain areas in the state.

At present, westerly and northwesterly winds are prevailing at lower level, which is likely to cast a dry spell across the state. For Ahmedabad, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast clear skies and low humidity on Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 41 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature will be somewhere around 24 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded 2 degrees below the normal as the mercury remained at 24 degrees Celsius.

Across the state, the maximum temperature remained above 40 degrees Celsius. Surendranagar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 42.3 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Mahuva, at 18.5 degrees Celsius. Mercury readings for Vallabh Vidhyanagar and Kutch Mandvi were not available.

Overall, the weather remained dry in all the districts of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch region.
