Today, we are busy in celebrating foundation day of Ahmedabad, which is a prehistoric city. Unesco has given the city a tag of 'World Heritage City' few months back in July 2017, based upon the claims of the heritage monuments which gained the title. When Ahmed Shah Badshah laid foundation stone of Ahmedabad, the area which was part of city was adjacent to Ashaval or the then Karnanavati.

The heritage city still retains some of the places that existed way before the actual human settlement began here. Places like Asha Bhil No Tekro, the area near the Dhal Ni Pol, next to Astodia Darwaja were present before Ahmedabad was seen as city to live in.

Apart developing its structural identity the city has also witnessed many historic events. Dr Hemant Bhatt of Khadia Itihas Samiti retreats this fact saying, "It is true that the area of Asha Bhil No Tekro adds to the value of the city. But I would like that the city has something in it plays a crucial role in historic events."

Ratnamanirao Jhote had mentioned about the Chandola lake in his article 'Ashaval Ane Karnavati' published in the magazine Vasant in 1926. He wrote Chandola lake located at three kilometers south of Ahmedabad, existed even before Ashaval was found.

Another structure which is, and was part of Ahmedabad is Karnamukteshwar Mahadev temple. The temple is located outside Sarangpur gate and was constructed by Karnadev – I.

Another temple located at Kocharab is also said to be the ancient temple of Kocharva Mata built by King Karnadev I with the passage of time, 'Kocharva' become 'Kaushalya'on popular tongue by which it is known now.

There were towns of Asarva, Sarkhej and Naroda were contemporary to Ashaval and later became part of Ahmedabad of Ahmed.
