Keeping in view the law and order situation in Ahmedabad city in wake of release of Padmaavat movie, the cops have been deployed outside malls and cinema halls.

On Tuesday, the six malls of Ahmedabad located in the western part of the city had faced the violence of the Karni Sena members, who started a protest by vandalising the shops and setting vehicles on fire parked outside the malls.

As per senior police officer, around 15 to 20 policemen were deployed outside the city malls. The Police department claims that the cops guarding these malls did bring the situation under control. The city police departments said that they stopped the protesters from entering the mall, which is then they started vandalising vehicles outside the malls.

AK Singh, the police commissioner, said, "The police teams stationed outside the malls did manage to block the protesters from entering the malls or vandalising the malls. Immediately after the incident, several teams of Sector-1, Crime branch, DCP Zone 1 and 7 went to the spots from the different location to apprehend the violators during which 44 of the members were held."

The police resorted to lathi charge at Acropolis Mall, Himalaya Mall and Alfa One when the mob started vandalising public property. At Himalaya mall, when the police tried to stop the mob from entering the mall, the mob started attacking the police personnel. The mob attacked constable Prahaladbhai Laljibhai and tried to choke him to death, said police.
