Man arrested for possessing 210 kilos of beef in Juhapura

The city police on Friday nabbed a butcher from Juhapura area and recovered 210 kilogram of beef from his autorickshaw. It was revealed during the investigation that followed that the accused going to sell the beef in the area, the police claimed.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon near Orange Farm slaughterhouse, which is located near Ashrafi Masjid in Fatewadi area of Juhapura.

As per the police officer, on Friday morning, the cops received specific information that a man was going to deliver beef in the area in an autorickshaw. Acting on the tip-off, a team kept watch and nabbed the the accused, identified as Ashrafkhan Pathan, a resident of Juhapura, when he arrived with the meat.

As per the Vejalpur police, their team intercepted the autorickshaw when Pathan arrived at the spot and arrested him under the Gujarat Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2011.

"While inspecting the autorickshaw, we recovered the beef and some other meat from the back of the vehicle," a police officer said.

A forensic team was called to the spot, and after testing the meat, they confirmed that it was beef, the police said.

The Vejalpur police have lodged a case against Pathan. They are now investigating from where he had procured the meat and to whom he was going to sell it.
