The Gujarat government announced on Wednesday that 1.15 crore land parcels in the state have been surveyed, out of the total 1.25 crore. The state cabinet on Wednesday reviewed the latest situation.

The high power committee formed by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, under the head of deputy CM Nitin Patel, met separately and discussed issues with revenue department officials. The committee, however, was not satisfied with some of the information provided by the officials, and hence they have been asked to clarify a few points, or get more information on the same.

The deputy CM Nitin Patel said: "There are a total 1.25 crore survey numbers in the state as per the revenue records and the survey of 1.15 crore have been completed. Also, where land holders have any dispute, we will call them to Gandhinagar for a meeting and will fix the issue."

"We will not make the promulgation final until the last complaint is sorted. There are total 18,034 villages in the state and the survey of land has been completed in 12,220 villages. There are only a few patches and only 2 per cent land holders or farmers are not satisfied with the land survey or have any objection," Patel added.

The state government has appointed nine agencies in the state to work on the land survey, with a scientific approach and the help of latest technology, including mapping and GPS. The last survey of land in Gujarat was done under Mughal emperor Akbar's finance minister Todar Mal.

The agencies will mark all kinds of land, including government reserve, forests, water bodies, wetlands, Gauchar, private land, Gam Tal and other sorts of land. The government will also go by the land records of the revenue registrar's office.

"We are going to replace the age old land survey done by Todar Mal. There may be several errors, but we intend to correct it. No land holder will be meted with injustice," the Deputy CM further added
