Gujarat police have sounded an alert in the state following the terror attack on pilgrims in Anantnag. Senior police officials had gathered at a meeting called by in-charge director general of police Geetha Johri in Gandhinagar on Tuesday to discuss the attack and possible repercussions in state. 

Security has been beefed up at temples and other sensitive places. Police have also intensified patrolling at strategic points across the state. Checking has been tightened at airports, railway stations and bus depots of state transport. In addition to these, hotels, entry and exit points of all major cities and town, and outposts of state borders are under stricter vigil. 

In wake of the terror attack, many protest programmes were organised across the state. Police had taken all precautionary measures to prevent outbreak of communal riots, mainly in major cities and town. 

Ahmedabad city police commissioner AK Singh has ordered all officials to be vigilant to prevent any untoward incident, particularly in communally sensitive areas.
