Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reminded the Congress that the more it makes fun of him, the more the nation will hoist him on its shoulders.

Addressing a rally in Kalol in Gandhinagar, Modi said that the Congress began making fun of him after he initiated the move to ensure India remains clean. "The rich don't live in filth, then why should the poor live in filth. But, when I started a movement to clean India, the Congress began to make fun of me. The more they make fun of me, the more the nation will hoist me on its shoulders," said Modi.

He also addressed other rallies in Palanpur, Sanand in Ahmedabad, and Vadodara all of which go to polls in the second phase in December 14.

Modi, did not fail to point the fact that the crowd who came to hear him far exceeded the arrangements made and at one point in the speech directed the people not to make any further arrangements as the crowd was too huge and they wouldn't be able to manage. It should be noted that some of Modi's rallies particularly in places that went to poll in the first phase had seen empty chairs and a thin attendance, a fact vehemently denied by the state BJP.

He also thanked the crowd for the rousing welcome to the son of the state as he returned home. Modi said the BJP intended to take India to new heights the way it had done for Gujarat. "The Congress wants me to give hisaab (account) of what I have done. Four generations of Congress owe a hisaab to the nation," said Modi. He said while the BJP was looking at development Congress was busy dividing people on the basis of caste. "When generation changes, leadership changes one expects some change to come. But that change has not come in the Congress," said Modi. He said the only motto of Congress was Parivar Bachao and that they were not bothered about the country. He reminded the people of the curfew days under Congress rule when every festival including Uttarayan saw violence on the smallest pretext. He said the BJP's mantra was unity, peace and Sadbhavna.

'CONG DIVIDES'

He said while the BJP was looking at development, Congress was busy dividing people on the basis of caste. "When generation changes, leadership changes one expects some change to come.
