Gujarat elections 2017: Hardik Patel under EC scanner

PAAS leader Hardik Patel has been addressing rallies one after another across Gujarat, although he was not given permission for that. The EC has been taking this act of Patel leader very seriously and legal actions can be taken against him. The commission is also keeping a tab over every word spoken by Patel community leader in his rally. The chief electoral officer in Gujarat BB Swain said in press conference on Wednesday.

He said, "Permission should be taken by the competent authority for holding any rally. If Hardik Patel does not get the permission from authority and holds a rally, we would ask the authority to take appropriate actions. The supervising teams of election commission record every political rally across Gujarat and there is a huge team for that. If Hardik Patel makes any statement that could provoke sentiments of people, the concerned authorities are capable of initiate actions against him. If the matter comes to us, we would seek footages of the rally from the concerned district authority."

"If Hardik Patel makes the statement favouring any party's candidate, the expense of the rally would go into account of the concerned candidate. Our team engaged in surveillance would also look after this aspect," added Swain.
