Gujarat: BJP's star campaigners' list, starts from PM Narendra Modi, ends at Vivek Oberoi

Congress includes agitation leaders Hardik and Alpesh

Both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have planned their star campaigners for upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat. BJP has come up with the list of party's 40 star campaigners for the state. The list begins with the name of the prime minister Narendra Modi and ends with the name of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi whose biopic movie on the PM is waiting for Supreme Court's nod for the release.

Oberoi made a surprise entry into the list of BJP's star campaigners amidst the condition when his film on the prime minister is under controversy. It is noteworthy that Oberoi was never on the board of the party's campaigners.

Besides this, party has also included Bollywood actors like Hema Malini who is candidate from Mathura seat, Paresh Rawal and Manoj Joshi (both having Gujarati origin). Rawal, sitting MP is dropped from the list of candidates of party in Gujarat after he conceded. Joshi was believed to be among the top contenders to replace him on Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituency.

The list also included party chief Amit Shah, galaxy of union ministers like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and others. Whereas Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadanvis, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, former CM of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Rajasthan Ex-CM Vasundhara Raje. They will campaign for party in Gujarat.

Simultaneously Congress also released the list of star campaigners in state. The list includes president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and others.

The party has included the community leaders like Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thakor in the list to woo the voters. Both of them actively led agitations in Gujarat for different issues related to Patidars and Other Backward Class (OBC) respectively. Congress party managed to make a significant comeback in Gujarat's politics during assembly polls held in 2017 by presenting both of these leaders before the voters of state.

Congress' list also is having the star attraction with bollywood actors like Shatrughan Sinha, Urmila Matondkar, Nagma and cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. The chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh Kamalnath, Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot and from Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel are also the star campaigners of Congress in Gujarat.
