Gujarat: 16th school enrollment drive kicks off

Rupani says the government is committed to create all the necessary infrastructure need to promote education in tribal areas

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday kicked off the 16th edition of annual school enrollment and girl child enrollment drive from Poshi taluka of Sabarkantha district. The CM called on all the families to get their children enrolled in schools to ensure that so the child is deprived of education. He said the government is committed to create all the necessary infrastructure need to promote education in tribal areas.

The CM enrolled children of Lambadia, Devti and Navadhra villages in class 1 as well as in local anganwadis. Students were also enrolled in class 9 and class 11. Rupani also unveiled a seasonal hostel constructed with an investment of Rs1.45 crore as well as 60 rooms for schools, with an investment of Rs5.08 crore.

Talking to villagers, Rupani said that this is a 'Knowledge Age' and that education is inevitable for any society that wants to develop in all the areas. "Education is the base of comprehensive development of society. The urge to get all the children educated will form the basis of a bright future of India," he said.

The CM distributed Vidyalaxmi Bonds as well as bicycles to girls under Saraswati Sadhna Yojana. He said: "We need to create an ecosystem where people are encouraged to send their children to schools."
