Do not be surprised if you hear a child's voice guiding you as part of the audio heritage tour on the city. Class 2 students of Riverside school and Shreyas school, as part of a project on the city, have audio-recorded the heritage stories for a tour.

While the project is yet to be launched by the schools, they intend to approach the authorities for the 'By the children, for the children' audio heritage tour conceptualized and designed by their students.

Sharing details, Phoram Desai, who is heading the audio project at Riverside school for years said, "A total of 27 students from Riverside worked on the project along with students from Shreyas school. As part of this project, students collected data, read history, understood the places geographically and wrote the script, all in six weeks. They also interviewed 200 other students to understand awareness about heritage among them. While Riverside school children recorded audio in English, Shreyas students recorded the same in Gujarati."

When a seven-year-old Sanaya Raval of Riverside school was asked to describe the project, she was prompt enough to say, "This is our gift to the city." When asked, she said, "The city gives us so much day in and day out that now it was our turn to return it to it. We visited Sidi Saiyad ni Jali, Manek chowl, Bhadra Fort, Jama Masjid and other places and wrote a script. My voice has been used for introduction, Badshaah no Hajiro, Bhadra fort and Manek chowk. We also made installations as part of which we turned our school campus into the old city of Ah-medabad to let visitors know the essence of the old city."

Aarti Trivedi, Principal, Shreyas school, said: "The idea was to give them an understanding of what is heritage so all the students went for a heritage walk, interacted with the locals before developing the script.

We would want the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to give it a thought to utilize for their heritage walks," Aarti said.
