CEPT university to train officials of Uttar Pradesh on urban governance

CEPT university on Wednesday launched a special training programme for officials of Uttar Pradesh on urban governance. More than 80 senior officials, consisting mayors, municipal commissioners, leaders of Opposition and other senior officers from 16 municipal corporations, will attend a four-day residential training programme in Ahmedabad and Surat in three separate batches.

This programme will be offered through a combination of classroom training, site visits, peer learning and interaction with local government leaders from Ahmedabad and Surat.

The central and state governments, realising the importance of well-trained cadre of officials in municipal and planning functions, have started investing in training programmes that will produce a cadre of officials who will be innovative, forge new partnerships, find new sources of funding, attract investments in cities, be efficient, and set transparent accounting and financial systems.

The program will focus on role of city leadership in transforming cities, city development, city management and accountable governance, identify challenges they face in implementing projects, tackling everyday challenges, etc.
