Gujarat BJP's election committee is going to sit from October 21 to 26 for candidate selection for assembly polls. The top leaders of the party will meet at Shanti Niketan Old Age Home at Adalaj village near Gandhinagar and will review the reports prepared by the observers of the party for each of the seats pertaining to local factors and suitability of candidates. The observers have submitted this report on the basis of representations they received during their visits from aspirants to contest the polls.

A senior leader of the party said on condition of anonymity, "The candidate selection is going to be challenging task for the us this time. As there are the chances of breakout of ire from the aspirants who would be rejected. It was managed earlier when PM Modi was the state head of the party and he could keep control over all the cadres through disciplined atmosphere. Now, the aspiration of people have gone up to get reward from the party for their years long contribution and changing political equations in different areas may push us to take some harsh decisions."

The agitations by different communities like Patels, Thakors and Dalits have changed the socio-political picture in Gujarat.
