Automobile and tyre manufacturers have invested more than Rs 22,700 crore and created over 16,000 jobs in Gujarat in the last two yeas , the state government said in the assembly on Wednesday.

The state has seen significant investments in automobile manufacturing and auto ancillary units in the past few years , starting with Tata's Nano car plant in Sanand. Ford and Suzuki are the other manufactureRs that have set up manufacturing facilities in the state in the last two years .

Two-wheeler companies such as Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) and Hero MotoCorp have also set up manufacturing facilities in the state.

CM Vijay Rupani said in written replies in the House that Ford has invested Rs 10,300 crore in the state, the highest among the auto companies. The US carmaker's investment in Sanand has led to creation of 2,817 jobs. 

Suzuki MotoRs manufacturing facility in Hansalpur has seen investment of Rs 3,090 crore as of December 2017, and created 2,326 jobs. Tyre manufacturer MRF has invested in excess of Rs 4,500 crore, the chief minister said. 

Taiwanese tyre company Maxxis has invested Rs 1,020 crore in its Sanand plant. Incidentally, Rupani will inaugurate Maxxis' plant on Thursday.
