After Jasdan MLA Kunverji Bavaliya, another senior Congress MLA is likely to quit the party anytime now. Khambhaliya MLA, Vikram Madam expressed to a Congress worker from his area during a telephonic conversion that the former could quit the party anytime. Madam, however, said he would not join the BJP, but on the other hand, BJP is all set to defect as many as MLAs and senior leaders of Congress as possible.

The issue came to light after Madam's conversation went viral on social media. Madam shared the sensitive information with a worker whom he barely knew. Initially, the worker introduced himself and Madam said he was disappointed with the party leadership in the state to the degree that he would quit Congress anytime.

"I am not happy with the state leadership as they are not good leaders. I can quit Congress anytime. I am going to ask several questions and raise issues before the state president (of Congress) in days to come. If I do not quit, he would expel me from party. I will quit active politics too, but will not join BJP neither form any other party."

"It is very clear from very beginning that I am not going to join BJP. It is true that I am not happy with the state leadership but that does not mean that I have turned dissident," Madam said while addressing the media in Jamnagar following this development.

Madam has been complaining that the leader of Opposition, Paresh Dhanani and party chief Amit Chavda did not allow him to speak in the Assembly during the debate. He also alleged that they did not support him in the House on any issue.

Madam, two times MLA and two times MP, was elected from Khambhaliya seat in last polls. He is the uncle of Jamnagar MP, Poonam Madam. Poonam, too, had defecting from Congress in 2012 and had got Assembly polls ticket on the day she joined the BJP.

Political corridors are abuzz with rumours of the BJP trying to convince Vikram Madam to join the party and it seems that the operation by the BJP high command to convince dissident Congress MLAs has begun. National organisation secretary V Satish also has been staying in Gujarat for last three days, and has suddenly extended his stay for three more days on Friday after the development in the Vikram Madam case. The party is in contact with seven more Congress MLAs from OBC community and especially from Saurashtra region.

Congress is now compelled to do the exercise to keep its flock together and especially OBC MLAs. Gujarat in-charge of party, Rajeev Satav was in Rajkot on Friday to meet the leaders and workers of the region. He said to them that those who remained in discipline would be rewarded well in Lok Sabha polls and no any anti-disciplinary actions would be tolerated by party high command.

NOT A HAPPY FAMILY
