A case of molestation was lodged with the Vejalpur police station on Thursday after a 33-year-old pregnant woman was molested by an unidentified man while she was alone at her residence.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon in a flat located in Fatehwadi. As per police, the woman was living a rented house along with her husband. She is a housewife, while her husband works in a private company located near ISKCON temple.
As per her complaint, around seven days back an unidentified person had come to her society's gate and asked the watchman if there were any flats on sale.
The watchman took him to the victim's house saying that the owner of the flat wants to sell the house and right now this couple was staying on rent, after which he left the place.
On Thursday afternoon, the same man came to the society and went directly to the victim's house. The victim opened the door and allowed the man to get inside thinking that he must have come to see the house again. After a while when the accused realised that the woman was alone in the house, he started to misbehave with the woman by commenting on her. When the woman told him to leave the house, the accused grabbed her hand and forcefully kissed her.
The pregnant woman somehow managed to run outside her house screaming for help. Meanwhile, the accused managed to flee from the spot. Within moments, neighbours gathered at the spot and later the Vejalpur police was called by the victim.
L.D Odedara, inspector of Vejalpur police station stated that "After the incident came into light, our team reached the spot and started an investigation. Primary we came to know the accused was wearing a white Pathani and was having a beard. As there was no CCTV camera installed in the society, we are trying to recover CCTV footage from the nearby area to identify the accused and he will be soon nabbed."
