Ahmedabad: Man steals jewellery worth Rs 19.43 lakh from uncle's shop

Ornaments worth Rs 19.43 lakh were allegedly stolen from a jewellery shop in Surdhara circle of Ahmedabad on Saturday night. A complaint was lodged with Sola police on Sunday. The complainant, Bhavarlal Soni, told police that his nephew, who used to work with him, stole the valuables and fled to Rajasthan.

Soni, a resident of Ghatlodia, stated in his complaint that he is in this business for the last five years. His workshop is in the Avishkar bungalows. The workshop used to be managed by him and his two brothers, while for the last two years his nephew — identified as Anil Soni — a resident of Rajasthan, was also working with them. Bhavarlal had recommended Anil for the job.

While the routine work was going on last Friday, Bhavarlal checked his counter and found gold Rs19.43lakh missing. While looking for it, they discovered that Anil made off with it.

"We have taken the complaint right now and have started an investigation. Primary investigation revealed that the accused has fled to Rajasthan and we have sent a team to nab him down," DH Gadhvi, Inspector of Sola police station said.

Builder booked in cheating case 

A complaint of cheating was lodged with the Sabarmati police on Sunday by a 42-year-old woman, alleging that a builder and three others duped her by selling a flat and shop for Rs 60 lakh and not providing the original documents of the property. The complaint was lodged by Inakshi Prajapati, a resident of Sarangpura area. Prajapati told police that her husband, Mitesh, booked a flat and shop from the Ashraya 9 scheme located in New Ranip.
