A total of 13 schools from Ahmedabad have not submitted proposals to the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC). This is in violation of the Supreme Court order, which, last month had asked all the schools left to approach FRC, to submit their proposals within two weeks.

As per the details shared by the District Education Officer (DEO), a total of 13 schools from the city and one school from Ahmedabad (rural) have not submitted proposals. From Sabarkantha, two schools did not submit, whereas in Patan, 8 schools did not submit their proposals.

The Supreme Court in its order on July 11 had stated, "We direct that Gujarat shall immediately not later than one week communicate in written to the petitioners' schools, the items which it considers optional for the purpose of charging fees and the petitioners' schools shall submit their proposals in compliance within two weeks thereafter.

The court ordered that private schools cannot charge additional fees under various heads like co-curricular activities, apart from tuition fees.

Sources said: "All top schools, opposing the FRC Act, have submitted their proposals to the FRC. FRC will now conduct hearings and decide on the fees. The fees decided by the FRC will have to be followed by the schools until further orders from the Supreme Court."
