Even if just 246 students could not be allotted a seat this year in FYJC through the online process, many students flocked to city colleges to find out the number of available seats. Students have turned their backs to the seats allotted to them through the online process.

Experts feel that students may be disheartened as cut-offs at colleges is expected to dip only marginally. “We have just few seats left so cut-offs won’t be very different,” said Marie Fernandes, principal, St Andrews College, Bandra.

Colleges will sell and collect offline admission forms on July 10 and 11. “We are giving out forms only to students who have their original marksheet and school leaving certificate,” said BB Sharma, principal, VG Vaze college.

For this, students are taking the risk and withdrawing admissions from their current colleges. “Since we require the originals for the offline process, we have withdrawn the admission from the college that was allotted in the online process,” said Rachita Maroo.

Education officials are happy with the online process this year. “The students that were left are only those who did not select preferences according to their percentage,” said an official.
