Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, better known as Dhudhsagar Dairy, plans to set up a dairy science college in near future.
“With a view to providing employment opportunities to the children of farmers of this area, we want to set up dairy science college and looking at National Dairy Development Board for technical support," said Vipul Chaudhary, chairman of Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited. Amrita Patel, chairperson of NDDB, who was in Mehsana to lay foundation stone of new cattle feed plant at Jagudan near Mehsana on Sunday, promised full support on her part.
The cattle feed plant to be build by Dhudhsagar Dairy will have production capacity of around 1,000 metric tonne per day. Chaudhary also said that animal husbandry has replaced agriculture as main business in the North Gujarat region because of unavailability of water. However, the farmers are not satisfied with the return in this business.
