Balbharti to change Class 7 and 9 textbooks from this academic year

Hence the bookstore owners, educational institutions have been asked to make note of it

The Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research popularly known as Balbharti has announced that all textbooks for Class 7 and 9 will be changed for academic year 2017-2018. It has also decided to bring in all new textbooks for Class 8 and 10, and also for Class 3 to 5 in the academic year 2018-2019.

Hence the bookstore owners, educational institutions have been asked to make note of it.

Zohar Golwala, owner of Saifee Book Depot, and member of Mumbai Booksellers Association, said, "The textbook bureau has only informed us regarding the change in Class 7 textbooks, we are not aware about Class 9 textbooks. We will have to return Class 9 textbooks, which is waste of tax payers money."

Prashant Redij, spokesperson, Mumbai Principal Association, said, "Earlier the bureau had declared changes in language textbooks but now the circular states that changes will be made in all Class 9 textbooks."

Uday Nare, teacher from Hansraj Morarji Public School, said even they were only aware about the change in language textbooks. "I was not aware that Class 9 textbooks are changing. I was aware that teachers had demanded change in language textbooks to the bureau. Now on, language question papers are going to be activity based."
