The Bihar Government has signed an MoU with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) for making one crore youth from Bihar computer literate in the next five years.

The MKCL, which has trained over one crore  individuals through its famous Maharashtra State Certificate course in Information Technology (MS-CIT) course, will be training the youth through Bihar State Certificate course in Information Technology (BS-CIT).

The MoU will also enable them to learn soft skills and get a grip over the English language through BS-CIT. The soft skills training will include communication skills coupled with body language, self-confidence, positive attitude, time management and consumer orientation.

Vivek Sawant, the CEO of MKCL informed DNA that MKCL had applied for the tender in Bihar, and has now acquired it. Sawant informed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken a keen interest in MKCL since MKCL ensured that every student will have to learn to earn their certification.

Sawant said that every student has to face the camera 500 times for solving 500 challenges which will enable them to pass the examination instead of having just one examination. After signing the MoU, the actual training has begun post Chhath Pooja festival, which is considered to be auspicious in Bihar.

The knowledge corporation was promoted by the Maharashtra Government in 2001 and through the Department of Higher and Technical Education, it was incorporated under the Companies’ Act of 1956 as a public limited company.

The purpose of setting up MKCL was to create a new paradigm in education and development of the state through integration of information technology in teaching, learning and educational management processes. It was also aimed to bring a paradigm shift by using IT in bringing about socio-economic transformation as well.

MKCL has centres across the state of Maharashtra as well as centres in other states including Rajstyhan, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu which had sought MKCL’s help for imparting training.
