Paul Revere might be well known to schoolchildren in the US for his act of bravery during the American Revolution, but apparently not so much to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, with reports saying that she wrongly described patriot Revere's historic 1775 ride at the start of the Revolutionary War.

While visiting a bakery and historical sights on the 'Freedom Trail', including Paul Revere's house, Palin mistakenly described the famous 'midnight ride' before the 1775 battles at nearby Lexington and Concord.

"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed," the Daily Mail quoted her, as saying, despite the fact that he was a patriot opposed to British rule.

Meanwhile, after completing her nation wide bus-tour, Palin appears to have tested the public opinion about her pretty well, because she reportedly said that 'you don’t need to be in office to effect positive change.'

"Not only do I love my freedom of not having a title and being a declared candidate — that is liberating — I know you can make a difference as an individual. Hopefully, I can inspire others to know that you don't need a title. You don't need to be in office to effect positive change," she added.
