Pak teenager arrested near Rashtrapati Bhavan

A teenager from Pakistan was arrested near Rashtrapati Bhavan here when he tried to enter the premises to plead with President Pratibha Patil to help him as he had lost his passport, police said today.

Aftab Khan, 19, who claims that he resides near the Parliament complex in Islamabad, was stopped by security personnel near North Block at around 9:30pm yesterday while he was heading to Rashtrapati Bhavan, they said.

He told the security personnel that he wanted to meet the president seeking her help as he had lost his passport in Ambala, a senior police official said.

As the teenager had no valid travel document, the official said, he was taken to police station and placed under arrest.

A case under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act was registered against the teenager. Central intelligence agencies and police are questioning him.
