A 25-year-old software engineer from Suri, who was sent abroad for training by a
Chennai-based company, was found dead in a London hotel, his father said today.

Kaji Wasim Aktar's father Kaji Abdul Mokib said he was informed of the death of his son at his residence here by the London police late yesterday. The London police told him it would take three days for investigations to be completed, after which the body
would be sent to India, he said.

Mokib said his son had left for London on July 6 for training and was also scheduled to go to Paris. "On Sunday, when we did not receive any call from him, we tried to contact him on his mobile phone, but did not get any response," he said.

On Monday, he said, he received a call from a person who claimed he was a London police officer and that his son was dead. Another police officer rang at 1am the same
night, saying Mokib's son's body had been found in bed in a hotel room, the engineer's father said.

SDO, Suri, Mutini Banerjee said "we have informed the concerned department of the state government."
