Armed men detain crew of Italian ship in Tripoli

Armed men have detained the 11 crew members, including two Indians, of an Italian ship in the Libyan port of Tripoli, the Italian news agency ANSA reported today.

It said the crew of the ocean-going tug  -- eight Italians, two Indians and one Ukrainian -- were detained as the ship disembarked Libyan workers yesterday.

The armed men, one of whom identified himself as the harbour master, arrested the crew and prevented the ship from leaving, the agency added.
