Woody Allen has angrily denied accusations that he sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow when she was a child.

Refuting the claims, the 78-year-old American screenwriter lashed out at his former wife Mia Farrow in an op-ed piece to the New York Times where he revealed that he loved her and hopes that one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter's well-being.

He said that the 68-year-old former fashion model manipulated Dylan during their "terribly acrimonious breakup" 21 years ago when he began a relationship with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn.

Allen claimed that "any rational person" would see the ploy for what it was as Mia's malevolence seemed so obvious.
