Thousands of refugees who exhaustedly arrived at the borders of Austria and Germany close to 1.30 am on Sunday morning were welcomed with cheer and food from well-wishers, NBC News reported. 

Though the police tried their level best to direct the refugees towards the train headed for Dortmund than letting them interact with the well-wishers, the half-dozen onlookers still managed to cheer the refugees with "Welcome to Munich" calls and by handing over food items, like chocolate bars and bread rolls to them. They were also provided with fresh clothes and were given medical aid. 

The refugees have had a tiring journey as they went by train and shuttle bus to Vienna and then by train again to Munich and other cities of Germany. The report said that with the arrival of these refugees, many of whom are from the Syrian civil war, the number of refugees in Munich has increased to 8,000 while the number of refugees to have arrived in Austria from Hungary on Saturday has increased to 9,000. Many refugees from Afghanistan and Iraq have also arrived in Austria and Germany.

Although, the flow of refugees coming into Austria has slowed down as most of them are crossing the border by foot and there are too many people who want to board the bus and trains from Budapest.
