A video has been doing the rounds of social media which shows a man physically abusing a child who looks to be around five or six years old. The video was recently shared on The Logical Indian page and also on Catch News

According to a report on bangkok.coconuts.com, the man who is seen kicking and strangling his son has been arrested by local authorities. Apparently, he is from Thailand and is a 30-year-old called Peerasak. His last name was not released by the authorities. The man was apparently arrested on July 26. The video was allegedly posted on Facebook by the boy's mother as a cry for help, saying she had no courage to go to the police herself.

He was presented at a press conference by the police on July 26 at the Hat Yai Police Station in Songkhla province in Thailand. The man claimed he was angry because his son couldn't memorise what he taught and that he was also under stress from losing his job and was under the influence of drugs. The man also claimed that he would like to see his son and apologise. He has been charged with taking illicit drugs, assault and child abuse. The organisation Thai Giving is currently arranging for the family's housing and will also give therapy sessions to to the boy.

While the video is truly horrific, the only silver lining is the fact that social media can play a part in bringing such incidents to light.
